Game #1
Wednesday, 4/29
Tahoma Gold vs Cedar Heights
at Cedar Heights Junior High

3:45pm game time

Congratulations to our Tahoma Gold Baseball Team for their 6-0 victory over the Timber Wolves of Cedar Heights!!! With the game scoreless after four complete innings the Tahoma bats came alive. With two outs in the top of the fifth an Aaron Vaughan single was followed by an Austin Baranska double. Tahoma then drew first blood on a clutch two RBI single to left center by Jake Jenkins to put Tahoma up 2-0 at the end of five complete innings. The bats came alive once again in the top of the sixth as Tahoma put four more runs on the board with RBI's by Coleman Wooten, Joe Joe Jimenez, Caleb Krafsky and Connor Johnson. The pitching duties were shared by Nate Brown, Connor Johnson and Hunter Hoggarth. Tahoma went on to seal the deal with a 6-0 victory. Tahoma Gold's next game is Friday, May 1 against Mattson at Mattson @ 3:45pm.

Game #2
Friday, 5/1
Tahoma Gold
 vs Mattson Junior High
at Mattson Junior High
3:45pm game time

Congratulations once again to our Tahoma Gold Baseball Team for emerging victorious in a heart thumper of a game today against the Mattson Mustangs on the Mustang's home field at Mattson Junior High. Though the Bear bats were swinging and connecting the Mustang's defense was just as wanting as the connections did not produce any hits until a single ground ball by Joe Joe Jimenez  was hit through the infield to left center in the top of the fifth. Both sides remained scoreless  until the top of the seventh when Coleman Wooten hit a screaming line drive over the Mustang shortstop's head for a single and then  went on to steal second on a passed ball first pitch to Matt Thompson. The second pitch to Thompson concluded in a hard shot past the shortstop for a double which allowed Thompson to switch places with Wooten  on second. Coleman Wooten pitched six complete, scoreless innings to the Mustang offense with seven strike outs in his debut pitching performance for CRMS. Hunter Hoggarth held the Mustangs scoreless with a game ending 1-4-3 double play assisted by Kyle Cummings at second and Nate Brown at first for a final 1-0 score in favor of Tahoma Gold!!! Way to go Bears!!! Tahoma Gold plays next Tuesday, May 5th, against arch rival Tahoma Blue on  our home field at CRMS, 3:45pm game time.

Game #3
Tuesday, 5/5
Tahoma Gold vs Tahoma Blue
at CRMS
3:45pm game time

Though only the 3rd game of the season for Tahoma Gold, the pre game atomosphere was fit for nothing less than a championship game. Tahoma Gold and fellow Bears, Tahoma Blue, went head to head for early bragging rights for the city of Maple Valley. Friends competed against friends and pride was on the line.Things started out well for the boys in Gold as they jumped out to an early 3 to nothing lead in the bottom of the 1st after Hunter Hoggarth and the Gold defense got the Blue out 1, 2, 3. With bases loaded from a walk and two singles by Jake Jenkins, Hunter Hoggarth and Nate Brown, respectively, Coleman Wooten came up in the 4 spot and hit a hard shot down the third base line for a 3 RBI triple. Tahoma Blue chipped away at the lead and scored 1 run in the top of the 2nd. A single hit by Joe Joe Jimenez in the bottom of the 3rd and a ground rule double by Hunter Hoggarth in the bottom of the 4th was the only offense the Gold could muster bringing the score to 3-2 after four complete innings. The score seesawed between the Bear brethren for the final three innings and was highlighted by a 3 run home run by Nate Brown in the bottom of the 6th. However, that wasn't enough to overcome the boys in Blue as our boys in Gold dropped a 9-6 decision in the first of two meetings between the two teams. Stay tuned for another barn burner when Tahoma Gold and Tahoma Blue meet again on the Blue's home field for the season finale on Friday, May 29th. Tahoma Gold plays next this Thursday, May 7th at 3:45 on home field against Northwood.

Game #4
Thursday, 5/ 7

Tahoma Gold vs Northwood
at CRMS
3:45 game time

The boys in Gold bring home another W for the Bears playing 10, count ‘em 10, complete, grueling innings!!! Tahoma Gold now 3 and 1 for league.

Coleman Wooten started us off in a positive roll facing Northwood’s 3 top batters with 9 pitches; striking out the first, inducing ground outs by the second and third hitters. The bottom of the first finds Tahoma Gold with two outs and our 3rd, 4th, and fifth batters all on base with Hunter Hoggarth arriving on a single shot to center, being moved to second by Coleman Wooten who then occupies first with a well placed bunt and then both advancing once again on over to third and second by Nate Brown’s fine eye getting a base on balls. Two outs and two strikes later we find    Joe Joe Jimenez in the sixth spot driving every bit of a screamer to center for a 3 RBI double. Tahoma Gold now up 3-0.

Northwood  ties it up in the top of the third only to find the Bears ahead by two in the bottom of the third as Nate scores Cole with a double to right on the fly and Jake Jenkins then scores Nate on a walk. Northwood ties it up once again in the top of the fifth and the game remains tied for the next consecutive 4 innings as Hunter Hoggarth’s pitching keeps Northwood at bay until the bottom of the tenth. Yes, tenth!

The top of the tenth Connor Johnson comes in to relieve Hunter and he gets himself out of a tight spot with bases loaded with the help of the Bears tight defense. Bottom of the tenth finds the game still tied 5-5 with the Bears at the top of the order. Jake gets walked. Matt gets walked. Hunter hits a bomb to right that gets caught. Cole is intentionally walked. Bases are now loaded with one out. Nate Brown steps up to the plate and on his fifth pitch he unloads a shot in the hole at right on the fly for a single!!! He scores Jake! Game over! Tahoma wins 6-5. Can you say “phew?”

Tahoma Gold plays their next game at home against Meeker on Tuesday, May 12th. Come out and support your Bears!!!

Game#5
Tuesday, 5/12
Tahoma Gold vs Meeker
at CRMS
3:45 game time

Congratulations once again to our Bears in Gold for sitting at a 4 and 1 league record after their
12-0 mauling of Meeker Middle School. Our Cedar River boys used good plate discipline and patience while getting the timely hits when the opportunity presented itself. The offensive highlight of the game was a 3 run homerun by Matt Thompson. Multiple players contributed to the offensive barrage with the game being broken open in the 3rd inning as the Bears sent 13 batters to the plate, scoring 10 runs. RBI production was scattered throughout the line up including 2 for Cole, 2 for Austin, 2 for Jake and 1 for Joe Joe. Matt Thompson earned the win on the mound on his pitching debut for Cedar River recording 13 strike outs in five innings. Way to go Bears!!! Next game is Thursday, May 14th against Mill Creek at Kent Memorial Park on Field #3 or sometimes called Field B.

Game #6
Monday, 5/18
Tahoma Gold vs Mill Creek
at Kent Memorial Park
3:45pm game time

These are a bunch of Bears you don’t want to invite over for dinner. The Tahoma Gold Bears proved to be a voracious bunch with an appetite for runs as they chewed and then swallowed The Mill Creek Bulldogs yesterday afternoon on the Bulldogs home field with a 14-1 mauling in five complete innings. A strong pitching effort by Aaron Vaughan, who recorded 8 strikeouts in 3 innings of work, followed by Ryan Blevins who recorded 2 K’s in the final two innings, kept the Bulldog hitters stifled. The Bear’s offensive barrage set aside any hope of the Bulldogs biting back as the game was put out of reach early. Offensive highlights included Matt Thompson hitting a triple, double and a single with 2 RBIs; Aaron Vaughan with 2 singles and 3 RBIs; Daniel Cook with 2 singles and an RBI; Kyle Cummings with a double and 3 RBIs; Kaelyn Young with a single and an RBI; Connor Johnson with two singles ;Jake Jenkins with a single and both Hunter Hoggarth and Coleman Wooten with an RBI. This puts the Bears at 5 and 1 for league. Way to go Tahoma Gold! See the Bears continue their rampage tomorrow,   May 19th, when they play Meridian Junior High on Meridian’s home field at 3:45.

Here ye, here ye, Tahoma came Bear-ing Gold on a visit to the Monarchs of Meridian and came away with an 11-0 victory. Yes Tahoma Gold fans, that’s right, another “W” for the Bears in Gold was entered in the books for defeating the Meridian Monarchs on their home field this afternoon. This brings Tahoma Gold to 6 and 1 in league! Yeah Bears! Once again the Tahoma pitching was stifling as both Connor Johnson and Ryan Blevins limited the Monarchs to just two hits with no runs scored. Connor recorded 8 strike outs in 4 innings of work and Ryan Blevins closed the game at the bottom of the fifth with only 8 pitches. The offensive outburst was lead by Kaelyn Young with 2 hits and 3 RBIs and Aaron Vaughan with 1 hit and 3 RBIs. Other offensive contributors included:  Connor Johnson with two hits; Ryan Blevins, Matt Thompson, Hunter Hoggarth, Coleman Wooten, Nate Brown and Cody Visaya all with hits. Game #8
Thursday, 5/21
Tahoma Gold vs Cedar Heights
at CRMS
3:45 game time

Our Tahoma Gold Bears came out growling and left the Timberwolves howling from a 15-2 victory by the Bears at our 8th SPSL season game today. That makes us now 7 and 1 in league! Way to go Bears! Once again the pitching held its end of the deal by limiting the Timberwolves to two runs on 3 hits. The duties were shared by Coleman Wooten and Aaron Vaughan. Coleman Wooten recorded the win by pitching the first four innings and striking out 8. Aaron Vaughan sealed the deal in the fifth and final inning. The bats were blazing as Tahoma had 15 runs on 10 hits. Hunter Hoggarth, Nate Brown and Kaelyn Young contributed to the blaze with two hits apiece, while Austin Baranska, Matt Thompson, Joe Joe Jimenez and Aaron Vaughan fanned the flames with hits as well. Triple RBIs were had by Jake Jenkins, Hunter Hoggarth, Kaelyn Young and Joe Joe Jimenez while Austin Baranska and Coleman Wooten each chipped in an RBI. Come support your Tahoma Gold Bears next week in their 9th game of the season against The Mattson Mustangs on Wednesday, May 27th at 3:45pm on the Bear’s home turf.  Go Tahoma Gold!!!

Game #9
Wednesday, 5/27
Tahoma Gold vs Mattson
at CRMS
3:45 game time

Well, well, well Bear fans, there’s a new SPSL Seventh Grade Championship Team in town and they go by the name of Tahoma Gold!!! Congratulations to our Tahoma Gold Bears for capturing the SPSL Seventh Grade League Title with their 7-5 win against Mattson Junior High on our home field at CRMS, Wednesday evening. For all intents and purposes this was the championship game as Tahoma Gold needed this win to claim solo possession of the league title. A loss to the Mustangs would have caused a sharing of said title and though our boys are definitely a friendly bunch, they were not about to share!  Due to the expert pitching of Hunter Hoggarth, with seven strike outs, and the fierce defense of our Bears in Gold, there’s only one #1 team in league! Yeah Tahoma Gold!!!

The fireworks flew early when Matt Thompson followed a leadoff single by Nate Brown with a towering two run home run over the center field fence in the bottom half of the first inning. The score remained 2-0 Tahoma, until the top of the fourth when the Mustangs decided to make it interesting and scored three runs despite Hunter striking out their 2nd, 4th and 8th batters. Tahoma then answered back in the bottom of the fourth scoring runs on three hits including a two RBI single by Connor Johnson scoring Jake Jenkins and Joe Joe Jimenez , bringing the Bears in Gold up 6-3.

The Mustangs got one back in the top of the fifth bringing the score to 6-4, which we promptly took back with another run of our own in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single by Hunter Hoggarth making the score now 7-4 Tahoma.

The sixth inning was held in check by both sides. The seventh brought one more run for the Mustangs making the score 7-5, but it was not enough to overcome neither the tight Bear defense nor the command performance Hunter Hoggarth delivered on the mound.

The Tahoma Gold Bears close out their championship season on Friday, May 29th in ‘The Battle of the Bears Part Two’ as they play their Bear brother s from Tahoma Middle School at TMS, 3:45 game time. Please come support our Bears in Gold in their final game of their championship season!!! Go Gold!!!

 Game #10
Friday, 5/29
THE BATTLE OF THE BEARS!!!
Tahoma Gold vs Tahoma Blue
at Tahoma Middle School
3:45 game time

What a season, what a season! Tahoma Gold wins the SPSL 7th grade title by beating Mattson Junior High and then regains their place as the top 7th Grade Bear team in Maple Valley with their victory over Tahoma Blue on Blue’s home field at TMS this past Friday afternoon, May 29th. Way to go Gold!!!

The battle began as each visiting Bear in Gold got up, got on and scored. The pressure was kept on as each inning scored a minimum of two runs ending the game early after five complete innings.

Coleman Wooten takes the win on the mound as well as the credit for 5 RBI’s. Aaron Vaughan had two doubles and 3 RBI’s. Matt Thompson had a single, double and 3 RBI’s. Hunter Hoggarth had one double, two singles and 2 RBI’s. Joe Joe Jimenez had a 2 RBI double along with Kyle Cummings. Nate Brown had a double, single and an RBI. Cody Visaya had a double with an RBI. Connor Johnson had a single with an RBI.

Hits were also had by Ryan Blevins with a single to center, Caleb Krafsky with a double to deep left and Mark Whitney with a deep double between center and right.

Our Bears in Gold came to play and left no doubt. They did just that. Congratulations to all our 2009 Cedar River Middle School 7th Grade Boys Baseball Players for a great 9 and 1 season. Each and everyone had a part in the maulings!

Yeah Gold!!!
