Drama is an introduction to theater arts and acting before a camera.  6th grade Exploratory will cover theatre games that build acting skills, theatre vocabulary, pantomime, improvisation, vocalization, character development, stage presence and movement.  There will be some memorization toward the end of the quarter.

One quarter the 7th grade drama class will rehearse and perform a play.  The production during the semester will require memorization by actors and their understudies, Art Producers will create props, Sound Producers will create and play sound effects during the play, and Stage Managers move props on and off the stage. This may require some after school commitment. Everyone will help put props and costumes away & clean up stage and auditorium after production. This performance (worth 50 points) will take place between 2:10 – 3:00. Parents are invited to this performaNce.  Keep an eye on the Events page of this site for dates.  Clean up may require taking the 4 pm activity bus home. Athletes and students who require transfer buses will need to make arrangements with coaches and parents to accommodate their attendance at this performance.

The other quarter, teams within our class will “Acting for Film” unit where students will have another opportunity to act, operate a camcorder, and edit a Video. Creative dramatics will be stressed in all activities.    

To perform publically, your student may join drama club if they would like to be involved with this year's school musical, “Annie”.   Check out the Events calendar for the date of this play and other important dates as they occur.
