All Day Kindergarten
Class
Kindergarten
Themes: Communities, Cycles and Change
We are now studying Communities, which is the first
of three Integrated Units we will study this year. Integrated units
combine social studies and science with active learning to match
the developmental levels of kindergarten students.
We will explore each of the five senses in turn and use them to
practice the thinking skills of observation and
comparison. We will observe the changes in the
fall season and observe and compare the life cycles of the
sunflower, apple and pumpkin.
Students will be introduced to the concept of community through a
study of family, school and neighborhood. We will develop the
thinking behaviors of attending (listening) and
persistence as we continue to build our
Kindergarten community in school.
Togehther we will begin to develop he Tahoma Student Outcomes of
being Self-directed (independent)
learners and Community
Contributors. We are off to a great start! Thank you
for sending your children ready to learn!
