I am hearing that parents are concerned about the "Yarn Art" due date.  When 75% of the class is done, the final due date will be set.  Right now there are only a few at 35%.

WELCOME 7TH GRADE ART STUDENTS PARENTS!!

Please share your Art Syllabus with your parents, give them a tour of this site, sign it and get your parents to sign the syllabus. You sign the Guidelines and Rules page. Please return them BOTH as soon as possible (DUE date is on the Events page of this site). If you bring it back on a day I am not at your school, ask the office to put it in my box.

Building student responsibility where students are self-directed learners, performers, & coming to class prepared is another one of my goals.  Students are required to bring planners.  If a student forgets to bring his/her planner a total of 3 times before the quarter is over, he/she will write themselves an infraction for coming to class unprepared.  You can check on the success of your student by looking under the "Participation" grade in Skyward.  If they received a 7/10 there should be the comment "Planner missing, required daily".  I have in the classroom asked students to help each other by reminding each other to bring their planners with them.

REMEMBER: I am at

Cedar River Middle School on BLUE DAYS

SUPPLIES: Most students have brought their sketch book, their colored pencils, and markers. Some have not, please check Skyward to find out whether or not you need to bring some other supply.

Our first project is being turned in today.  Portfolioes turned in on Monday, March 3 are not late.  Portfolios turned in after Monday are late.  Late work earns a C at the highest.

Rubrics are worth 3 of what ever points are possible on a project.  For example, the Portfolio projects are worth 28 points.  If the project is turned in without the rubric & the student followed all the other criterion on the rubric, their score would be 25/28.  Students are also to grade their own work using the "YOUR SCORE" column on their rubric.  If they do not fill this column this is a -2 off their final score.  Every rubric will have some activity on it that also needs to be completed before student turns in their art projects.

A part of the art assignments that students often forget to complete is the part of the rubric where I am asking them to anaylze their art at share which elements are addressed in the assignments.  Also some higher level questions regarding how the element they are addressing appeals to the viewers emotions.  Please ask your student or remind your student to make sure they follow through with completing all of the rubric so they don't get low scores on their wonderful art.

Thank you,

Mrs. Bielefeld
