ANNOUNCEMENTS

WELCOME TO DRAMA 6TH DRAMA STUDENTS FOR 2nd QUARTER OF OUR 2017 - 18 SCHOOL YEAR.  THANK YOU FOR BRINGING YOUR PARENTS ON THIS SHORT CYPER TOUR OF MY SWIFT SITE:)

One of our focuses at Maple View Middle School is to shift the responsibility for learning and turning in learning activities from the shoulders of parents to the shoulder of the students.

If your student loses any of their drama handouts given students in class, they will be responsible to visit the "DRAMA HAND OUTS & RESOURCES" page of this site, in order to print out another copy of the handout.  I only give one copy to students, because I am interested in giving students the opportunities to develop being responsible to keep track of the resources I give out.  If they loose their copy, they can solve how to replace it.

1)  GO TO THE DRAMA HAND OUTS & RESOURCES PAGE.  PRINT IT.

2)  NO PRINTER?  COMPUTER NOT WORKING?  NO INTERNET?  AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE AT SCHOOL, DURING LUNCH, GO TO TH LIBRARY; OR WHEN YOU ARE ON A COMPUTER WITH A PRINTER AVAILABLE IN YOUR OTHER CLASSROOMS, PRINT IT OUT.

3)  NEED THE DOCUMENT AT HOME TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK?  GO THE KING COUNTY LIBRARY AND PRINT IT OUT.

DON'T FORGET TO VISIT THE CALENDAR OF EVENTS & DUE DATES.  HERE IS WHERE I POST ALL ASSIGNMENTS.  EACH ASSIGNMENT IS A LINK TO MORE DETAIL GIVEN THE DAY IF THE ASSIGNMENT.

ALL STUDENTS THAT MISS  OUR PERFORMANCE ORIENTED VOCABULARY QUIZ, WILL BE TAKING THEIR QUIZ ELECTRONICALLY AT HOME ON THE "VOCABULARY MAKE-UP QUIZ" PAGE OF THIS SITE.  THE RESULTS ARE EMAILED DIRECTLY TO ME UPON COMPLETION.

We only got through 3 groups demonstrating their vocabulary words through skits.  Students were very challenged to identify the words demonstrated in the skits.  Please have them continue to read the vocabulary definitions 2 times today, Saturday & Sunday.  Then have them practice the electronic "Vocabulary Makeup Quiz" on my SWIFT site in order to do well on identifying the words that students demonstrate through a skit.

Please have students continue reading through the words and using the practice quiz, Vocabulary Make-up Quiz on this site.  When they are done taking the quiz, push the button.  The quiz will tell the student the score and give them more information on the true meaning of the word or the best answer to the question.  They should continue practicing until they can identify all the words.

A document listing the words with the definitions may be found on the "Drama hand outs & resources page.

Check out our Drama Gallery.  Students worked on creating skits to present on Wednesday.  They will be demonstrating what they think Drama is.

Stay tuned for links to their performances.

7G Pantomime Story project is in full swing.  Please remember to practice your part at home to make sure your performance is believable and entertaining.  Exaggerated facial & body expressions required.  If you practice MIME2.jpgthis movement at home in the privacy of your bedroom, you'll be more relaxed for your performance.  Better yet, show your family your part of the performance:)  Performances will begin next Wednesday for some students.  Watch the calendar for more specific information.

6G drama student's have completed their posters exploring what one another knows about drama.  Now students are preparing their dramatic presentation on the information they included on their posters.posterPRES.PNG Using costumes and props helps students step into character as they rehearse and perform.  I lend them my costumes and props per request.  If students need a costume or props I don't already have in my inventory, they may be asking you to purchase them.  I recommend trying to borrow them first, then go  to Goodwill-that's where most of my inventory comes from.

I record these performances and put them in my GoTahoma account.  I will release links to these performances as soon as they become available.  I only leave these performances online for 1 month.  Having a Google Account helps with accessing these links since that is their origin.

7th GRADE ACTORS:  DON'T FORGET TO PRACTICE USING THE REAL OBJECT AT HOME that is like the make believe prop you will be using during your pantomime short story performance.

1.) Pick it up:  What does it feel like?  Is there resistance when I pick it up?  What does my hands, arms, or feet look like as I use th object.  I need to copy this when I am using the same object, only it will be an imaginary object I am using in the pantomime.

2.)  You have written the props you would need on the "Basic Qualities of Good Pantomime" sheet I sent home with you.  After you practice this afternoon, you show your parents, siblings, friends and have them initial that it is easy to see what item you are using 3 different ways.
