P.E. Grading Criteria

Rock Creek’s school wide expectations are called “RC3”

Participation Grade

The PE participation grade shows how your child is progressing regarding the “RC3” in the PE setting.

Shows Respect: listens attentively, demonstrates good sportsmanship, plays fair, cooperates with peers, takes fair turns, includes and encourages all peers, uses kind language

Makes Good Decisions: follows directions, stays on task, makes safe choices, quick & quiet transitions uses equipment appropriately, manages impulsivity, stops at the signal, keeps hands and feet to self, stays on feet, wears appropriate shoes

Solves the Problem:uses words to solve problems with peers, plays a quick game of rock, paper, scissors to solve simple problems, notices a problem and takes care of it, reports information when necessary without tattling

+ (plus)                 Student excels in the above criteria

/ (check)               Student demonstrates the above criteria with occasional reminders

/-  (check minus)  Student is not consistently demonstrating the above criteria and needs frequent reminders

-  (minus)              Student is not demonstrating the above criteria and continues to struggle even with individualized support and problem solving conversations

 

Skill & Content Grade

The PE content and skill grade is based on how your child is progressing when learning new concepts and skills. Content and skill grades do not reflect mastery of a certain area; rather the focus is on the process of learning, improving, demonstrating proper technique with a growth mindset and learning health and fitness concepts that support a healthy, active lifestyle.

Skill: Showing improvement in demonstrating proper technique when learning skills with a growth mindset

Content: Showing progress in understanding and applying health and fitness concepts as demonstrated on tests, classwork,  homework, and verbal responses.

/ (check)              Student demonstrates the above criteria with minimal support

/- (check minus)  Student is not consistently demonstrating the above criteria and needs individual support to engage in the learning process

-  (minus)        Student is not demonstrating the above criteria and struggles even with individualized support
