Homework should be fun, peaceful, and worthwhile.

1. Read-at-Home book bags: Have your first grader read the book to you twice, helping if needed.

2. Read a book to your first grader that is above his/her reading level so that they can hear more complex vocabulary and story elements. Remember to stop and ask questions along the way so that you know he/she understands what is going on.

3. Spelling words: work on the words throughout the week with writing, play-dough, white boards, magnets, etc.

4. Math: The math homework packets vary from 2-5 pages each week. These are sent home on Friday and are due the following Friday.

*Remember to record your reading minutes on the Paws to Read Logs.
