This is me this summer in front of the Mendenhall Galcier in Juneau, Alaska. I was lucky to see several glaciers while in Alaska and am still in awe over their beauty.

Please make a habit of using this website.  It will be your resource for homework, notes, labs, reviews, and anything else of relevance to class.  I know each of you has the power to succeed in this class please do not ever hesitate to talk with or e-mail me and/or make an appointment to come in for extra help.

To me these images sum up the most important aspects of my teaching.  The mole, while strangely cute and furry is also the starting point for understanding much of chemistry.  (And here I am talking about Avogadro's mole - 6.02x1023, not the furry one).  Understanding chemistry means understanding how the matter all around you is interacting and changing to shape your experiences. The Earth held in a person's hands symbolizes the very important role humans have in shaping the health and future of the planet. Humans need the Earth. Science, both Chemistry and Environmental, provide knowledge that is at the root of responsible stewardship towards the Earth.
