Fundamental Reading 8/9 The goal of
Fundamental Reading is to improve basic reading skills. Instruction
will focus on vocabulary usage and development, comprehension, word
attack skills, and fluency (speed). We will develop these skills
using "Language" by Sopris West, . Students will
have the opportunity to read alone and in small groups, as well as
to the class.
Math
Applications I , II In Math Applications, instruction
will focus on three areas, remediation of basic skills, WASL
preparation, and CPM Foundations For Algebra. We will practice
addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, of whole
numbers, decimals, and fractions on a daily basis. Homework will
often focus on these skills. We will start each day with an
Entry Task Problem. The students will be given the opportunity
to work the problem independently, then we will work the problem
together. The purpose of this exercise is to expose the students to
the type of problems they will encounter while taking the WASL as
high school sophomores. Finally, we will work on Pre-Algebra
concepts from the general education curriculum CPM Foundations For
Algebra. For course chapter objectives and a daily schedule go to
the documents section and click on "Math Applications Course
