Hello and Welcome,
My name is Dale Heimbigner and I teach Explore Year 1 and Year 2 Math.  This is my 25th year teaching Math and can still say it's great.  I graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1985, earned my Masters in 1999 and my Administrative Degree in 2002.  I've taught Middle School-aged students for 18 years, coached in the Middle School and High School for all of those years and was Athletic Director for 11 years.  I'm married  with 3 kids; 2 boys in high school and a daughter who graduated from college this past year to become a Math teacher.  She's recently married and my wife and I are hoping for grandkids.......

►My class rules and expectations of the kids have been outlined in the letter in the documents portion of this site or I send the letter home the first week of school.  I think it all comes down to a couple of things.  Successful experiences come to those who work hard, stay organized and take responsibility for themselves.
Responsibility to get work completed and turned in, responsibility for good behavior and the responsibility to learn.  These are keys to success in my class.

► It is important that your children keep track of their work on their homework record sheet.  They also have planners to keep information in.   The Swift site is a back-up and will not always be current, but their HWR and planners should be.

►I will post assignments in the homework section of this site.  click on the "Homework" tab.   The most current assignment is listed at the top .  Please check your student's Math folder and planner when you get a chance.  Look for the Friday Folder and be sure it is signed and returned after the weekend.  Also, look for their Math Homework Record sheet (HWR) with a stamp on the grade your child earned for individual assignments.  If there is not a stamp over a grade it means they were absent when the assignment was given or the assignment isn't corrected. In any case, the Homework record sheet  needs to be turned in on Friday because it is worth 10 points if turned in on time.   The assignment and points earned for each assignment will be on Skyward.
If your child has a missing assignment, you will recieve an email informing you of their required attendance at the next homework center and eventual Friday school if the work does not get completed and turned in.
You can check your child's grade on Skyward.  click the "Grades" tab above or go to the "Links" tab.  There are many things due on Monday so grades will be updated in Skyward on Monday or Tuesday evenings.   This includes missing, late and redo work.
Welcome and I look forward to meeting all of you.   Mr. Heimbigner  (Mr. H.)

Go to the "Links" tab to access all the Explore Teams individual Swift sites.
You will find the Explore Team Handbook in the documents section of the Explore Team Swift Site  which is in the "Links" tab above.
