Hello and Welcome,
My name is Dale
Heimbigner and I teach Math on Explore Team.
This is my 26th year teaching Math and it's been alot of fun.
I graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1985, earned my
Masters Degree in 1999 and my Administrative Degree in 2002.
I've taught Middle School-aged students for most of those
years and high school the rest. I've coached in the Middle
School and High School
for 18 years and was Athletic Director for 11
years. My wife, Barb, and I have 3 kids and a
son-in-law. Our two boys are in college and our
daughter is also a Math teacher in Eastern
Washington. We are recently grandparents.
►My class rules and expectations of
the kids have been outlined in the letter in the "Documents" tab of
this site and I will send the letter home the first week
of school for those families unable to access the
internet. My philosophy of teaching is the same as
my life. Successful
experiences come to those who work hard, stay organized and take
responsibility for themselves. Responsibility to get work completed and turned in,
responsibility for good behavior and the responsibility to
learn. These are keys to success in my
class.
► It is important that your children
keep track of their work on their homework record sheet.
They also have planners to keep information in. The
Swift site is a back-up and will not always be current,
but their HWR sheet should always be up to date. If the
grade is not recorded on the HWR sheet or the HWR sheet is not
turned in, it cannot be posted on Skyward.
►I will post assignments in the
homework section of this site. click on the
"Homework"
tab. The most current assignment is
listed at the top . Please check your student's
Math folder in their binder as often as needed. Also, look
for their Math Homework Record sheet (HWR)
with the grades your child earned for individual
assignments. The Homework record sheet will
be turned in on Fridays with the assignments for the week
stapled to it. If the assignment is not attached, no grade can be
given. The assignment and points earned for each will be on
Skyward. The HWR sheet will also be used to identify the
daily Habits of Mind and Learning Goal for each lesson.
If your child has a missing
assignment you will see a "MS" on Skyward for that
assignment. For first semester, students will
be required to attend Tuesday homework center and an eventual
Friday school if the work does not get completed and turned in
by Tuesday of the following week. For second semester, all
will be the same except there will be no Friday school.
Instead, students will recieve a zero if the work is not completed
and turned in by the Friday of that week. You can
check your child's grade on Skyward. (click the "Grades" tab above or go to the
"Links" tab.)
Grades will be updated in
Skyward within a week of the assignment being
corrected. Missing, late and redo work will be
posted within 2 weeks. All homework assignments can be redone up
until the chapter test.
Welcome and I look forward to meeting all
of you. Mr. Heimbigner (Mr. H.)
