Welcome to 4th Grade!

Mr. C’s class of 2019-2020,

Welcome to another great move up day as my newest P-1 All-Stars! I hope that each and every one of you is as excited as I am to start this incredible journey together. During this 4th grade adventure, we are going to learn together, grow together, and have some fun along the way.

Let me begin by introducing myself and tell you all a bit about the path that led me here to be your future fourth grade teacher. I started my journey in Tahoma at Lake Wilderness Elementary, the original one, in the 3rd grade and graduated in 2001 from what is now Maple View Middle school. Along the way, I spent 7th grade at Glacier Park and the following two grades here at Tahoma Elementary. Throughout that time I made lifelong friendships, as well as having some amazing teachers which helped me become the person I am today.

After high school I moved to California to attend Sonoma State University, during which time I earned a degree in Managerial Economics. I was fortunate enough to travel around the country playing lacrosse on some of the largest stages, and met the love of my life my freshman year. Once I graduated from Sonoma, I moved back to Maple Valley to start my life in the business world, as well as be closer to family and friends. There were a few shifts in jobs after school, all the while I continued to give back to the sport of lacrosse by coaching youth teams from 2008 to 2015. It was my passion for coaching youth lacrosse that ultimately led me to make a wonderful change and sacrifice, and I enrolled in City University of Seattle  where I spent two years achieving a Masters in Teaching. In my first year teaching, I was hired as a sixth grade teacher in the Kent School District before being hired to teach here at the amazing Tahoma Elementary.

I just recently had some amazing changes in my life, my wife Jennifer and daughter Juliette (3) and I moved from Maple Valley to Black Diamond in order to get some land. Shortly after moving in, we welcomed the arrival of our second daughter, Grace. We are enjoying walking in the woods looking for wildlife in our backyard, as well as enjoying some of the most amazing sunset views of the Cascade mountains from my front yard. We love rooting for the Seahawks, taking walks with our dog Kramer, camping on the Green river, crabbing in Anacortes, and spending time on Lake Sawyer with friends.

I hope your summer is filled with quality family time, sunny days spent playing with friends, and plenty of adventures to share with the class this coming September. When you take some time to rest from all the excitement, I encourage you to work on your math fluency and to read each and everyday in order to come back ready to dive into 4th grade material.

Attached, you will find our classroom supply list. I will see you again at our TES Fall Open House event on Thursday, August 29th, from 5:30-7:30pm. Our adventure together will begin Tuesday, September 3rd. If you have any questions before these dates, feel free to email me at
