About Mr. Lapp

Hello Tahoma Elementary Families! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

I graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Elementary Education and a major in Social Studies with a minor in History.   In December of 2006 I finished my Master's in Science Education through Walden University.  After a short break I continued my studies and gained my certification in June of 2010 for School Administration at Central Washington University.

I taught in the Kent School District for 15 in 3rd through 6th grades and spent a year as a computer lab teacher and Dean of Students.  While in Kent, I was fortunate enough to work with Mr. Gaston and am looking forward to finally working with him as the principal!

I grew up in the area and graduated from Lindbergh High School in Renton, Mrs. Burkhalter's husband was my football  coach, longer ago than I care to mention!  My family has enjoyed living in Maple Valley since 2002 and enjoying all it has to offer. My son and daughter have grown up going to all the local activities. My son will be a senior at Tahoma High School in Running Start at Green River and is involved with the Bear Metal team. My daughter will be a junior at Tahoma High and is a member of Club interact.  My wife is currently is teaching 1/2 time 2nd grade at Crestwood Elementary in Covington.

I enjoy spending my time reading, kayaking, playing ice hockey with friends and softball in the Maple Valley Parks league, and continually working on projects around the house. Now that our children are older we've been able to add some traveling with trips to San Diego, San  Francisco, Tucson, Glacier National Park, The Grand Canyon and to our favorites Maui, Kauai and most recently the Big Island.

I look forward to meeting everyone and working with your children in 5th gradeI think we are going to have a fantastic school year together!
