Bonus October Active Service Project Opportunity

What: Ottumnfest at Cedar River Elementary

When: October 25, 2019 Time: 4:30 to 8:30

Where: Cedar River Elementary

Details:  Organized by the Family Fun Nights chairs for Cedar River Elementary PTO. They have a big Ottumn Fest coming up on October 25th and they are in need of a lot of volunteers to make this event possible. They are looking for NHS student be looking to do volunteering to earn Active Service Credits. Most shifts are 30 minutes.  To earn 1 Active Service Credit for this event NHS Members Must:

1. Sign up using the link above and Complete at least four 30 min shifts, for a total of 2 hours of service to receive 1 Active Service Credit for Oct.

2.  Get a signature from the supervising adult at your event proving that you did 1 hour of service.

Once you’ve turned your NHS Application in to Mr. Neil and paid your membership dues to the Cashier then you’re good to go as a member of NHS.  Applications and Annual Dues are Due by our Nov NHS Meeting.   We are currently compiling all the forms and cross checking that dues have been paid.  Once we have it all done, we’ll announce our new members at the Dec NHS Meeting  The sign-up sheet to volunteer and earn an Active Service Credit is just outside my classroom  door (Room #320)  Sign up today and get involved!


Annual Dues: $15.00  Dues increase to $20 for all members if paid after Feb 14, 2019

 ASB Card: Each NHS member must purchase a Tahoma ASB card.
Membership is open to current Sophomores, Juniors, + Seniors 
Meetings: Every 1st Tuesday of the month during Power Hour B, in the PAC #3.  You must attend each meeting to remain an NHS member in good standing.  

The Next Big NHS Meeting is the 1st Tuesday of most months during Power Hour B in the PAC #3.

Community Service: Members are encouraged to participate in both Active community service projects throughout the year. There will be multiple opportunities to serve each month. Members will need to participate in at least 3 NHS service project each year and you must attend each Monthly NHS Meeting. 
GPA: You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to remain an NHS member in good standing. If your cumulative GPA falls below 3.5 please see Mr. Neil as soon as possible.
SENIORS--minimum requirements to receive an NHS Gold Cord in June:
            *Attend each monthly meeting (see Mr. Neil that week if ill or if there is a conflict with Running Start).
            *Participate in an NHS Service Project At least 3 Active Service Projects for the year.

 Individual Tutoring: You can also tutor outside of school. To get credit you need to submit the completed NHS Tutoring Form to Mr. Neil.  Remember this is community service so you may not earn money for your service.  Every 2 hours counts as One Project per month.
